ENOURMOUS RICHLY COLORED GREEN CALCITE CRYSTAL

'SIAMESE TWIN' DINOSAUR EGGS
This magnificent specimen consists of twin dinosaur eggs, two perfectly formed and very large eggs fused together, exactly as excavated. Twinned eggs are rare even among small specimens, but those comprising larger eggs are almost exclusively museum property and even then are found only on occasion. These are the eggs of a Hadrosaurid, a late-stage dinosaur (after the Jurassic Period) which flourished about 80 million years ago; it was in fact one of the last large dinosaurs. The fusing together of eggs would occur only under the most ideal of circumstances the causes have yet to be fully understood but most likely involved a tiny rupture in the shells of the adjacent eggs, which hardened into a natural cement and then became fossilized. This specimen, in absolutely perfect condition, weighs 12.5 pounds and measures about 9" x 5". From Madagascar.
